Chapter 2 - I Break Your Heart
My evil lips took the breath from your lungs.
My wandering ways put the nails in your feet.
My evil thoughts placed the crown of thorns on your head.
I pierced your hands that tried to stop me so that I could do my own will.
How many times have I broken your heart with my foolish ways, oh Lord?
No, you do not tell me. You only ask for my repentance.
But still, I pierce your side for you to keep the distance from me.
Oh, how long, oh Lord, have you seen my evil ways and shed many tears because I transgress against you?

How long have you told me to come back to you, but I turned my face away to follow the lusts of my own heart?
How long were you sad, and I wasn’t there to comfort you?
To turn your sorrow into joy.
Where was I, oh Lord? I left you, but you, oh Lord, you never left me.
You called, and you called until I could be called no more.
Then you put all of your sorrows into a vial to hide them from yourself, so you could weep no more for me.
I wasn’t there to wipe away your tears, oh Lord.
It was I who broke your heart.
